Jason Perkins
Allagash Brewing Co
"We have worked with Maine Malt House and the Buck Family Farm for nearly a decade. Throughout our time working together, the team at MMH have been an absolute pleasure to work with. Their honest, hard-working and innovative approaches have led to them producing some of the best Malt and raw grains available anywhere. We are so happy to be able to access these grains: grown and processed right here in the State of Maine."

Tanner Rubin
Bread & Friends
"We love working with Maine Malt House! We mill their grain on a daily basis in our bakery and that fresh milled flour makes it into almost every bread and pastry that we make at Bread and Friends. We strive to work with local Maine farms and working with Maine Malt House and their wonderful grain has allowed us to support the Maine grain economy and build a working relationship with some wonderful folks!"

A Malt House With Deep Roots
Our story starts on a farm in a small town in Northern Maine. In 1958, Jack Buck planted his first crop of potatoes on a 40 acre plot of rented land in Mapleton, Maine (now known as the Home Farm). He was on his way to achieving his dream of becoming a farmer. Eight years later Jack Buck Jr. and his wife Maryanne bought the 40 acres, a rundown farmhouse, and the attached barn for $15,000.
Jack's father, Jack Sr., ended his construction career to help his son on the land. Jack Jr. and Maryanne raised four children in their farm house and while Maryanne also contributed countless hours to the farm alongside her husband to make their dream work. Their three sons - Bruce , Brent, and Barry - followed in their father's footsteps and joined the farm after completing college. Their daughter, Kim, married a farmer and moved a few towns over.
